Hands, the New Mirror of the Soul: Taking Care of Them is a Must

If it's true that 'looking at hands is enough to understand a person' (Quote A. Castronuovo, Se mi guardo fuori), it's essential to provide our patients with appropriate information and tools to care for and preserve their youthfulness, vitality, and well-being. Hands hold an often underestimated social importance, being the absolute symbol of gestures and non-verbal communication, a seal of elegance and sensuality inherent to every woman.

Chrono and photoaging, combined with pollution and other irritating agents, contribute to the progressive process of cutaneous elastosis in hands, making them thin, deeply marked by furrows and dyschromia, with evident and accentuated venous vascular patterns - characteristics typical of skin aging. Medical-surgical aesthetic treatments aim to correct both cutaneous alterations secondary to epidermal damage (hyperchromic age spots) and the progressive hypotrophy of soft tissues responsible for tone and trophism of the dorsal hands.

What treatments are available?

During winter months, I recommend at least three consecutive sessions of Fraxel Dual Laser to progressively improve and eliminate superficial dyschromia and keratotic lesions. The combined wavelengths simultaneously stimulate dermal fibroblast activity with progressive increase in new collagen production. Vital Skinbooster biostimulation is a treatment aimed at providing deep hydration and improving skin tone and elasticity through activation and perceptible increase in collagen and elastin neosynthesis by fibroblasts. Generally, I recommend a cycle of three treatments repeated every 3 weeks to optimize results. These treatments can be alternated with laser therapy for enhanced synergistic effect and greater impact.

Lipogems Hands: The Gold Standard for Hand Rejuvenation

A unique therapeutic step with unparalleled efficacy, based on our body's self-repair and self-regenerative capacity, is Lipogems Hands: with a small fat harvest under local anesthesia and sedation, it's possible to obtain homogeneous, fluid adipose tissue that's highly manageable like a filler, with high regenerative potential. The infiltration of 5 to 10 cc of Lipogems in the dorsum of each hand can activate cellular renewal that promotes spectacular hand rejuvenation.

Each medical-surgical treatment or combination thereof must be adapted to the most suitable program for each individual patient. While awaiting the personalized hands-care program, it's important to emphasize adequate and constant photoprotection of hands to slow down signs of aging.
