Cupping Therapy: The Holistic Massage

It's the latest celebrity trend. From Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow to Lady Gaga, celebrities are choosing cupping therapy to relax their bodies and more.

Cupping therapy is based on an ancient Oriental medicine technique and aims to address aesthetic and postural issues. The technique works on the same points as acupuncture by creating pressure differentials on various parts of the body.

How does cupping therapy work?

The cups used are made of plastic or glass and have a diameter of approximately five centimeters. Positioned at specific points on the body, they improve blood circulation through the created suction effect.

Various methods are used, either hot or cold, to make them adhere to the body. From static application, where cups remain fixed in position, to dynamic application where cups glide along the chosen area with the aid of oils.

The benefits of cupping therapy

The decompression caused by the cups is beneficial for muscles, especially in cases of muscular pain, as it promotes toxin elimination and tissue reoxygenation.

Cups are also used to combat cellulite and localized fat as they promote fluid drainage and stimulate lymphatic circulation. This process helps improve local metabolism and tissue regeneration.

Psychophysical well-being

This technique is frequently used for relaxation as it stimulates meridians, releasing energy flows throughout the body. The stimulation of specific points can contribute to the release of endorphins, which have a natural analgesic and relaxing effect.
