Shock wave therapy represents an innovative treatment for addressing cellulite at Istituto Image in Milan.
"These are acoustic pressure impulses, similar to those used to break down kidney stones," explains Dr. Paolo Salentina, aesthetic physician at Istituto Image in Milan. "They are transmitted using a handpiece (V-Actor 200 Awt applicator) that is passed over the treatment areas. The impulses break down both the fibrous tissue causing cellulite and the adipose cell membranes. A complete cycle consists of 5-8 sessions."
The treatment acts deeply on connective tissue structure, stimulating microcirculation and promoting excess fluid drainage. The mechanical energy of shock waves also promotes new collagen production, contributing to improved skin elasticity.
