Khadim is a 28-year-old Senegalese man who was the victim of an acid attack in Dakar. Today, thanks to the supporters of ALMaUST, a foundation that assists victims of severe burns, Khadim has been able to reach Europe and undergo essential surgical procedures to preserve his vision and partially restore his face. The patient is receiving treatment at Niguarda Hospital and has undergone Lipogems treatment at Istituto Image.
Lipogems treatment for acid burns represents a significant innovation in regenerative medicine. The technology utilizes the regenerative properties of autologous adipose tissue, rich in mesenchymal stromal cells, which support tissue healing and modulate inflammatory response. This therapeutic approach offers promising results in treating corrosive substance injuries, where traditional methods often show limited efficacy.
