Tattoo removal is now possible thanks to more powerful and effective new-generation lasers, such as Quanta System's Asset, one of the most advanced Q-Switched lasers, used at Image Regenerative Clinic. The Asset laser for tattoo removal emits very short light pulses (6 nanoseconds) that are more precise and targeted compared to those emitted by other Q-Switched machines (50 nanoseconds). A shorter pulse offers greater effectiveness and lower risk of developing fibrosis and skin scarring. Furthermore, the same laser used for tattoo removal is also used for removing benign pigmented lesions and skin rejuvenation treatments.
A tattoo consists of pigment granules (color) that, when hit by the laser beam, are fragmented and progressively removed physiologically from the skin, and eliminated by the body. The Asset laser operates on two different wavelengths (1064 Nm and 532 Nm), allowing effective action on black tattoos, and on red or blue ones in various shades.
The Asset laser is also effective for removing permanent makeup from the face. Q-Switched technology allows for the removal of black and red cosmetic tattoos from lips, eyes, and eyebrows. The treatment is safe and leaves no scarring.
The number of sessions varies greatly (on average from 3 to 10) depending on the tattoo's size and depth, and the colors used. For example, removing a tattoo measuring 10x10 cm typically requires 30 to 60 minutes per session. The laser treatment generally involves one session every two months until complete tattoo removal.
After laser treatment, the tattoo tends to fade slowly during the first sessions, then progresses more rapidly until complete elimination. It's important to remember that older tattoos are removed more quickly, as the ink has already been partially eliminated by the body.
After each treatment, it's important to follow the specialist's instructions and avoid sun exposure throughout the entire cycle of scheduled sessions.
