Shock waves
ESWT – Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy – was developed by the Swiss electromedical company STORZ in the late 1980s. These are acoustic waves, created both to disintegrate kidney stones and as a valid therapeutic option for pain and for the treatment of many pathologies. As it has been discovered, in fact, these acoustic waves stimulate the activation of natural biological repair processes.
What Storz shock waves are used for
Their use has also proven to be very effective in aesthetic medicine: due to their renowned anti-inflammatory properties, shock waves are useful in the fight against cellulite in all its stages, even the most advanced, such as fibrous and sclerotic, with the so-called “orange peel skin” condition.
Using two handpieces, one for draining and the other for firming/reshaping, shock wave therapy reduces water retention, improves local blood circulation, and stimulates cellular metabolism.
To enable the handpieces to glide, a gel is applied.
