Traction threads treatment is used to lift face and body tissues when skin laxity is moderate.
What are traction threads
Traction threads are totally biocompatible and reabsorbable medical threads, made up of polylactic acid as well as PDO-polydioxanone, glycolic acid and Caprolactone associated with polylactic acid – all biostimulating substances capable of promoting collagenogenesis, i.e. the natural acceleration of endogenous collagen production.
Each wire generally measures from 3 to 20 cm and has a bidirectional structure, with cones at the opposite ends (in variable number of 4/8/12, both for the traction branch and for the anchoring one). The aesthetic doctor inserts each thread via needle in the subcutaneous adipose tissue (but not in the bone, as with non-absorbable surgical threads).
How traction threads work
The PDO threads exploit the fibrotic reaction that the skin creates around them, but also the traction they exert after their insertion, anchoring themselves inside the dermal tissue, thanks to bidirectional cones, anchors, or even “beards” with which they are equipped to allow the lifting and repositioning of the skin.
They can be used for the face and body.
Threads do not replace a traditional facelift, although many consider them a viable alternative. Instead, they are ideal for a moderate lifting effect.
Traction threads treatment results
PDO threads guarantee a rejuvenation of the face thanks to the lifting of lax skin. In addition, skin tone and quality are improved.
The lifting effect of the threads is immediate; the collagen regeneration effect, on the other hand, happens over time: the biostimulation, due to the polylactic acid which is slowly degraded, will make the skin progressively toned and luminous in the months following the treatment.
This aesthetic medicine treatment is suitable for those patients with a mild degree of skin relaxation. The result lasts about 10/12 months, during which period the threads are reabsorbed.
